Founder and CEO (1981 to present)
In 1981, Mr. Hill founded the predecessor to Sumar Realty Corporation. A significant part of the overall business is completing major renovations on newly acquired properties and "leasing-up" new or vacant properties.  Another affiliate, Westmark Management, was co-founded to complete a three-year assignment of managing and turning around a distressed portfolio of approximately 10,000 federally insured apartments. In addition, Mr. Hill performs fee-based renovation and management services for Houston banks, incident to their foreclosure, and re-sale of apartment properties.  A subsidiary manages the Houston House Apartments, a 396 unit high-rise complex in downtown Houston.  Sumar currently specializes in class “B” and “C” properties in the Houston Metropolitan area. Through its construction subsidiary, Westbrook Construction, Inc., Sumar completed reconstruction on four Hurricane IKE damaged apartment complexes. Additionally, Westbrook is 60% finished with a major rehabilitation of the Houston House using HUD 221 D4 funds.

Mr. Hill held total responsibility for all phases of apartment management operation with over 20,000 units under his direction. He personally established and supervised six regional offices in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dallas, Houston, Albuquerque, and Washington DC. More than 15,000 of those units had mortgages insured by The Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Inducted into the Houston Apartment Association Hall of Fame in 2013

Member of the Houston Apartment Association since 1984
President of the Houston HAA in 2005, the year that Houston provided 37,000 plus apartments for Hurricane Katrina Evacuees: -Sumar Realty provided more than 300 of those units coordinating with the City of Houston/FEMA voucher system.
He remains on the HAA Board of Directors and Legislative Committees.
